Krystal Bruchs
As a doula, I believe every birthing family deserves to feel supported, informed, and empowered to make the choices that are right for them. I love learning about my clients’ birth visions, guiding partners with hands-on comfort measures, suggesting positions, and sharing practical tips to ease pregnancy and labor. One of my greatest joys is teaching families how to advocate for themselves—building trust and open communication with their care providers so they can move through birth with confidence.
My journey as a doula began in 2015, after unexpectedly attending the birth of my niece. Just two weeks later, I was in my first training, and two months after that, I was attending births. Since then, I’ve pursued over 15 advanced trainings and conferences in pregnancy and birth—including Spinning Babies, Gilligan’s Guide, Rebozo, and Advanced Comfort Measures. Each birth I attend continues to teach me something new and deepen my passion for supporting families through this transformative experience.
In 2020, I joined the 9th Avenue Doulas (formerly Rose Doulas) and supported families through the unique challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. During that time, I witnessed firsthand how strong collaboration between doulas and medical providers could greatly enhance the birthing experience for families. In 2021, I transitioned into teaching as a Doula Instructor at a local community college, where I shared my knowledge with new doulas entering the field. While I loved mentoring others, by 2022 I felt the call to return to the birth space full time. In September 2023, I was thrilled to rejoin 9th Avenue Doulas, where I continue to walk alongside families as they welcome new life.
Outside of birth work, being a mom is the heart of who I am. My husband and I married in 2011 and welcomed our sons in 2013 and 2016—two experiences that forever shaped the way I show up for my clients. I understand firsthand the vulnerability, strength, and joy that come with pregnancy and birth, and I carry that perspective into the way I support every family. Alongside my two boys, our home is filled with the love (and chaos!) of two cats and two dogs.
When I’m not attending births, you can find me wrangling my boys for last-minute adventures (because, on-call life), DIYing or upcycling something I found on Pinterest, sewing or hand stitching, puzzling, and always making time for ice cream. As the oldest of seven children in a military family, I grew up moving often—an experience that taught me adaptability, resilience, and how to connect with new people quickly. Those skills now help me build meaningful relationships with clients and medical providers in the birthing space.
Congratulations on your growing family—I can’t wait to support you on this incredible journey!

“Having Krystal as my doula was such a wonderful experience. She was 100% present with me the entire time, providing me with all kinds of support in every moment. She is seasoned and professional but also totally down to earth. She has such a warm and nurturing energy. I honestly don’t think I could have done it without her. I recommend her highly.”
“Krystal was amazing during the birth of our first child. She is knowledgeable and supportive. My husband also appreciated the support she gave to us both. Krystal listened to what we wanted and I had peace of mind knowing that we had an advocate looking out for us, in the midst of a new, exciting, but tiring experience. Even when our birth didn't go as originally planned, Krystal helped us adjust, making it a positive and wonderful experience. We will definitely use her again!”
"We had a wonderful birthing experience with Krystal by our side. Krystal brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in a nonjudgmental warm approach. She was able to support my husband and me during the labor process by giving us suggestions on positions and guiding me through contractions with a calm and encouraging presence. She heard my need to move onto something else as contractions intensified and gave us the space to make decisions that we felt comfortable with. I wouldn't change a thing about my labor experience even though it was intense and exhausting, that's what makes it memorable. I'm proud of what I accomplished and don't feel like I would have been as strong or confident without Krystal a part of my team. She was invaluable to my husband and me. We cannot thank her enough for her guidance, care and support of our family.”
